19 enterprises in Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone (PCPZ) in Fujian province shared prize money of 770,000 yuan ($123,190) for their extraordinary performances over the past several years.
The award ceremony was held by the PCPZ's administrative committee on Jan 19.
Nine of the honored enterprises were crowned “Famous Fujian Trademarks”, with 50,000 yuan prize money for each. The other 10 enterprises were selected as “Famous Fuzhou Trademarks” along with 20,000 yuan in prize money apiece.
It is notable that the Pingtan Daffodil became Pingtan’s first geographic certification trademark. And the Lurun Trading Ltd Co became the first enterprise in Pingtan to apply for an international trademark. Its wallpaper trademark Topli is under legal protection in five countries including Australia, the United Kingdom and Germany.
The number of legitimate trademarks in Pingtan has grown from 211 to 1,207 over five years. In 2014 alone, 229 trademarks were approved for Pingtan’s enterprises, which was a 20.6 percent increase year-on-year. There are now 12 Famous Fujian Trademarks, 22 Famous Fuzhou Trademarks, 1 geographic certification Trademark and 5 international trademarks registered in accordance with the Madrid Agreement in Pingtan, official figures show.
Enterprises in Pingtan should raise their trademark awareness and pay attention to their brand value, said Yang Bingbing, an official from the Fujian Provincial Industrial and Commercial Bureau.
A trademark is an important indicator of an enterprise’s core competitiveness and its calling card. The cultivation of a famous brand will be highlighted in Pingtan which is a window of China’s opening up, said Zhou Qingsong, deputy director of PCPZ’s administrative committee.
