China to Establish a Long-term Mechanism for IPR Enforcement Campaign

In a bid to follow the instructions of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, apply more effective measures in the special campaign against infringement and counterfeit goods, and create a sound environment for creation and innovation, SIPO formulated a decision on stepping up patent administrative enforcement on June 27.

Guangdong: IPR Center Founded to Protect Innovation in Lighting Industry

A lighting industry intellectual property rights (IPR) center was established in Guzhen town of Zhongshan city in mid-June, the first for a single industry in the country.
The center plans to provide a range of services from patent applications to maintaining IPR, resolution of disputes and judicial protection.

Beijing: Digital Music Alliance Includes Portals and Record Companies

A digital music alliance was established last month to help regulate the market, fight piracy and encourage original creativity.
Twenty companies are founding members of the organization, including major record companies Ocean Butterflies International and Rock Mobile.

Beijing: Online Sale of Fake Brand Boots Nets 900,000 Yuan

Four people have been arrested for selling counterfeit UGG brand snow boots in a shop on Taobao.com, China's largest online retailer, that generated 900,000 yuan ($139,223) in revenues.
One of the suspects, surnamed Yao, before worked in a shoe market in Fengtai district of the capital city. At the beginning of 2009, he bought thousands of fake UGG boots and wholesaled them at prices between 80 and 100 yuan. When Yao was arrested he still had some 1,200 pairs in stock, according to Beijing police.
