What are the electromagnetic emission (EME) safety standards for radio products in China?

There are three existing national standards in China for electromagnetic emission (EME) relating to radio products (e.g., wireless subscriber units and base stations). They are GB8702, GB9175, and GB12638. Each of these standards has different radio frequency (RF) exposure limits, use different testing methods, and are enforced by different agencies. CSBTS is now working with the SEPA (State Environmental Protection Authority), the MOH (Ministry of Health), and the MII to streamline the overlapping jurisdictions. Foreign industry is concerned how these standards will be revised and whether a harmonized (single) EME standards based on internationally accepted EME safety specifications will result.
