Under the Rules, the government agencies in charge drug e-commerce are drug administrations, information industry departments and administrations of industry & commerce at central and local levels. The Rules have 7 chapters and 33 articles, under which the requirements for drug e-commerce Web sites and drug manufacturers/trading companies selling drugs through drug Web sites are set forth.

In addition to the normal registration requirements for any e-commerce companies, the establishment of drug e-commerce Web sites requires the approval of State Drug Administration.
