Are Chinese patent rights automatically effective in Macao?
No. For the time being, Chinese patent rights are not effective in Macao
The system for the protection of patents of invention, utility models and industrial designs and models in Macao is still regulated according to the Portuguese system (the National Industrial Property Office in Portugal). Applications should be filed with the INPI. The term for patent protection is twenty years from the date of application, fifteen for utility models and twenty-five for industrial models and designs.
