BEIJING, China, February 08, 2010 - Managing Director of Lehman, Lee & Xu, Mr Edward Lehman invited to speak at the Oil & Gas - Asia Pacific 2010 Conference.

Edward Lehman, Managing Director of top three Chinese law firm, Lehman, Lee & Xu has been invited to speak at the Asia Pacific 2010 Conference, to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on April 28, and 29 2010. The event will be looking at the current issues affecting the oil and gas industry within the Asia-Pacific region. Additionally, the conference seeks to evaluate what issues have arisen and have been imposed upon the industry in light of the recent economic downturn. The conference, organised by FGPL-GIMS CONSORTIUM in collaboration with Latham and Watkins LLP, will allow professionals from around the region to come together and discuss what lies ahead for the industry in 2010.

The conference has attracted a wealth of speakers, ranging from international law firms, to oil and gas companies working within the industry on a daily basis. Mr. Robert Volterra, Partner at Latham & Watkins' London office shall be a prominent speaker at this event. In addition to being a partner at Latham & Watkins, Mr Volterra is also head of the firm's Public International Law Group, and a visiting Professor of International Law at University College London. Additionally guest speakers include, Ms. Primila Edward, Senior Counsel and President of the Malaysian Bar Council, and Mr. Thavakumar, General Counsel of Shell Malaysia.

The country exhausted more than 5.1 % more oil in 2008, than it did in 2007. More recent figures from China National Petroleum Corp expect crude oil imports to go up to 9.1 % in 2010" He continues by adding that "the Tenth Five-Year Plan of Oil & Gas Exploration (2001 - 2005) was one of the first steps taken to reorganise the once restrictive industry in China."
