SAIC Promulgates Provision On Request For Priorities By Trademark Registrants In Taiwan

The State Administration for Industry and Commerce recently promulgated the Provision of Issues Relating to the Request for Priorities by Trademark Registrants in Taiwan, which adds relevant trademark registration application formats, and which shall be implemented from 22nd November 2010: 1. From 22nd November 2010, applicants in Taiwan who submit a trademark application for the same trademark for the same products at the SAIC within six months from the date the trademark application was first submitted in Taiwan, can request priority rights. The first application date can be traced back to 12th September 2010. 2. Where a request is sent for priorities according to the previous provision, the trademark registration application shall use the trademark application format. 3. For applicants in Taiwan requesting priority rights in Taiwan, the first trademark registration application date in Taiwan is seen as the application date at the SAIC after approval is granted.
